Weekly Reflection
There are many things that I have learned throughout this week. I wanted to first write about how I learned to plan my activities accordingly to the deadline. I would not say that I started off or worked slowly, but as my time ticked down, I realized how what I completed during a day affected each following workday. When I started I would work on an aspect of my go-kart, such as steering, and not complete the last finishing touches. This led me to have to take time out of my next day to finish up my previous day's work, cutting down on the time I had that day. I definitely have enjoyed what I am doing. Not everything has really gone as planned for sure. I thought that certain things such as my throttle and brake assemblies would not take as much time as they did. And other things like steering would take longer. This definitely threw off my planning, but I made sure to re-work it quickly. It is important to mention that the metal shop has always been a home for me at Proctor. Adjusting to a new school is hard, and I quickly found happiness and passion working in the metal shop. So I could not enjoy anything better than building a go-kart there as my senior project. My goals entering this project were to Advance my understanding of machining and metal fabrication, have a running Go-Kart by the end, and always make valuable use of my time. This week I believe I had achieved all. Gordon helped me learn to mill, I completed a running test of my kart and stuck by my time schedule with a few hiccups. All in all, this was an extremely productive and beneficial week.
